  24.              about these utilities that stimulate so much

  75.              Autodoubled files, so I was concerned. Fortunately
  76.              I did this under controlled situations, so nothing 
  77.              was lost. The MFR is Optima Technologies.ga

  84.              Decompress files dloaded from AOL instead of the...
  85.              the engine provided by AOL? GA

  90.              Members menu (cmd-=) You can set the Downloading 
  91.              Preferences to TURN OFF auto unstuffing of files

  95.              automatically ?

  97. AFC SteveY : Ah, well, that can't be done...I use StuffIt Expander 
  98.              which can be set to periodically scan a folder and expand 
  99.              files. ga

  105. MEpstein   : StuffIt Expander can "watch" a folder to decompress files
  106.              in it you can set that folder to your AOL Downloads

  113. DonaldWay  : When are we going to see something that allows us to 
  114.              *transparently* compress and decompress
  115.              resources on the fly?  It seems as if Apple has gone 
  116.              only part of the way here - what I want
  117.              is the ability to compress my own resources, and have 
  118.              the OS do the decompression as the resources
  119.              are loaded.  Is this coming, or am I just dreaming? GA

  125. AFC SteveY : I will defer to Dave to discuss Auto Doubler Internal 
  126.              Compression if he is ready. Ok...the Auto Doubler 
  127.              Internal Compressor will compress the resources in
  128.              applications, inits and...ga dave.

  130. DHeller    : Sure.  AutoDoubler comes with a program which will 
  131.              compresses resources in Applications, INIT's, and Control
  132.              Panels.  The resources are decompressed on the fly, but
  133.              the compression process is manual.  The compressed files 
  134.              are standalone and don't require AutoDoubler to decompress
  135.              them.  GA.

  137. AFC Dennis : (BTW folks. DHeller has donated two 
  138.              AutoDoubler packages for tonight's raffle) :)

  141.              file before, say, I open it using ResEdit? GA

  193.              extensions Stacker hard disks will be normal but with AD

  195.              changed.  Normally this doesn't matter, but it's not

  215. DHeller    : Sure... DiskDoubler isn't totally transparent where 
  216.              icons are concerned.  It contains compressed 
  217.              representations of icons for popular packages.  All 
  218.              of these icons are stored in the DiskDoubler
  219.              Application.  If the finder goofs it  when rebuilding 
  220.              the desktop on DD App, then all of the icons for all of
  221.              your compressed files will be generic.  We've found a few
  222.              bugs in System 7's desktop manager code, so this is not 
  223.              impossible.  Are you running Sys 7? GA

  225. Bob Slo    : No 6.0.7, and I don't keep the app on my hard disk 
  226.              just the init. ga

  228. DHeller    : That's probably why then.  You need to have DD app on 
  229.              the disk when rebuilding your desktop. GA

  291.              as ".sit" files.  So far, I have had no success.

  296. AFA DaveAx : The UnZip translator is part of StuffIt Deluxe, not 
  297.              StuffIt Lite  but there are several other unzipping
  298.              utilities in the MUT libraries for your delectation! ga

  305. DataRoger  : Are there any compatibility problems with AD and 
  306.              de-frag utilities like CP DiskOptimizer. GA.

  310. DHeller    : We've had reports of problems with early versions of 
  311.              the SUM optimizer, but none (that I know of)
  312.              with CP optimizer.  We do recommend you reboot from a 
  313.              floppy when optimizing your hard disk. GA

  315. AFC Dennis : AFC Tag what is your non-legal matter question ?
  316.  
  317. AFC TAG    : I use AD&DD and backup to a 2d HD.  When I boot from 
  318.              the bu HD, says AD&DD need to be reinstalled:(

  330.              that when After Dark kicks in, the screens begin to slow
  331.              down greatly. I have seen it de-installed to verify that
